"Colorguard..to those who do it no explanation needed, to those who dont no explanation possible."

My community of practice is the Centennial High school colorguard. We are a group of 15 girls ranging from 7th through 12th grade 12-18 years old. fall group picture 2008 We all attend Centennial high school except two of the girls, who attend Centennial Middle school. What we do is get together twice a week Mondays and Thursdays to practice. On the Saturdays we don't practice we have a competition, usually the competitions are located in oregon or washington. We usually have one over night competition in the fall and either go to Spokane or Everett. What we do at practices are stretch, work out, and dance, then we spin flag, rifles, and sabers basics and learn choreography that is put into either a fall marching show with the marching band, or a winterguard show that is just the colorguard and the music either to the band or a song off a soundtrack. My communinty of practice is made up of people who love what they do and wouldn't change for anything. We are a community of practice because we want to be, not because we are forced to be with each other. We are a family.
