Building a CAL/Home High School Schedule

How CAL's program works with your high school's program

The CAL program has been designed to work in conjunction with your home high school, so that you will be able to build a schedule that meets your high school's graduation requirements and prepares you for life after high school — whether you are going into the work force, an occupational training program, or college. The chart below, for example, outlines the course sequence for a student in the Medical/Health Sciences program:

Example:

Medical/Health Sciences: Required Courses

Grade 11

Grade 12
CAL Courses Home HS Courses CAL Courses Home HS Courses
Navigating the World of Health Sciences Social Studies Clinical Lab Practice Elective
Medical Calculations and Terminology Elective Clinical Experience Elective
Chemistry (HS or ECO) (Science) Elective Anatomy and Physiology (Science) Elective
Technology and Society (English) Elective College Composition: Health Sci. Focus (English) Elective
Note that home high school English and Science requirements are met at CAL.

What your schedule will actually look like depends upon your interests and your post-high school plans. To get an idea of what your schedule might look like if you attend CAL, see the schedule below for a student who is planning to attend a four-year college after high school graduation:
