Why is English at CAL?

During the planning stages of CAL, our industry partners emphasized again and again the importance of communication skills. To be successful in the world outside of school, today’s students need to develop abilities to read and write in a variety of ways, for a variety of purposes. So, we want students to develop the skills they will need to be successful in both school and the world outside of school.  Our mission is to help students develop into thoughtful, skilled, and informed adults who can consider the role of work within larger concerns about their lives and the world in which they live.
